The European Researchers’ Night is a mega event which takes place every year simultaneously in several hundred cities all over Europe and beyond. Under this year's title "SuperScienceMe: REseArCH in your REACH", our Italian partners UNICAL (University of Calabria) and ITM-CNR (Institute on Membrane Technology, National Research Council) joined forces with further institutions in Calabria to showcase on 28th September in a very interactive manner what researchers really do for society and to promote in an engaging way research careers to young people and their parents.
During the event, UNICAL and ITM-CNR researchers contributing to our project presented VicInAqua's vision, challegendes and proposed solutions, as well as their research activities and latest achievements in the frame of the project: among others the development of novel low-fouling membranes for membrane bioreactors based on an innovative coating technology called "polymerizable bicontinuous microemulsion", which leads to self-cleaning membrane materials.
About the European Researchers’ Night
The European Researchers’ Night is an initiative financed by the European Commission to increase public awareness of scientific research and innovation activities, but also promote and facilitate greater public participation in the entire scientific process. Direct contact with outstanding scientists aim at motivating citizens and giving them the possibility to experience innovation first-hand. The event is an unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the research departments of our domestic institutions and enterprises.
