Training Workshop on RAS by the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF)

Partner STIPRO Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organization (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) shared VicInAqua's concept and experience of Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) in a dedicated workshop organised by the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) on 22 July 2017 in Dar es Salaam.

It was also a great opportunity for our partner to share the design of our pilot and discuss it with RAS facilitators from ESFR. Some advantages noticed in the VicInAqua design include:

  • having a real time sensor system for water management - their system doesn't have this component;
  • the membrane being more sophisticated,
  • having an energy system based on biogas and solar power
  • the system collecting waste water that is suitable for environmental management system

The ESRF Economic and Social Research Foundation (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) is a policy research think tank. It focuses on seven research themes:
» Inclusive Growth, Employment and Industrialization

» Globalisation and Regional Integration
» Social Service Delivery and Social Protection
» Natural Resources and Environment Management
» Knowledge Management and Social Innovation
