Improved Regulatory and Economic Instruments for Water Management
VicInAqua partners organised round tables in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with aquaculture research organisations, (waste) water/sanitation research organisations, local and regional government representatives responsible for fisheries and aquaculture aspects, local and regional government representatives responsible for sanitation and (waste) water management and international organisations (such as EAC, EU, UNO bodies or GIZ).
With the aim of enhancing the regulatory framework of water supply and management and available economic support instruments with key stakeholders and decision makers of all three countries, the participants discussed ways for sustainable water supply and management.

Past round tables
Musoma, Tanzania (7 December 2018)
Partner STIPRO (Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organisation, Tanzania) organised our Tanzanian and last Round Table on technologies for wastewater treatment helping to improve environmental impact in Tanzania. The team discussed VicInAqua solutions with local public and private stakeholders. The Round Table took place in Musoma (Mara region) at the Afrilux hotel and was followed by the study visit of a wastewater treatment plant of MUWASA (Musoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority). Entebbe, Uganda (20 November 2018)
Partner NARO (National Agricultural Research Organization, Uganda) organised the Ugandan Round table on Water Management & Policy in the frame of several VicInAqua community events in Uganda: a technical training on MBR, a Round table on Gender & Aquaculture, an Information Session titled "The environmental impact of improved sanitation, aquaculture and fisheries" as well as two Study Visits (MBR site in a fish processing plant in Ntinda, Kampala and a RAS site for live fish marketing in Naguru, Kampala). Kisumu, Kenya (21 September 2018)
Partner DALF (Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fischeries of Kisumu County, Kenya) organised our Kenyan and first Round Table on water policy in the frame of its annual Stakeholders Meeting. The participants included policy makers in the field of fisheries, waste water, public health, environment and energy, as well as representatives from the chamber of commerce and industry associations.
